Introduction.
- 59% of 5th thur 12th grade girls in one survey were dissatisfied with their body shape.
- 20 – 40% of girls begin dieting at age 10.
- By 15, girls are twice as likely to become depressed than boys.
- Among 5th through12th graders, 47% said they wanted to lose weight because of magazine pictures.
How many of you have self esteem issues? Why? What made its get that way? Is it because of what you see in media, what you hear everyday, or what you tell your self? My name is Atiana Price. My senior topic is about self esteem in teenage girls.
My essential question is: What is the most successful way to help a teenage girl feel confident about her body?

Be aware that every thing out there is photoshopped. Everything from movies, televison show and magazines.

Start a group with you friends, or join a group. But maybe just talk about what it is that you saw in the media that upset you or you didn't appreciate.
Activity. Give everyone magazines including Ms. Ortega and ask them to find pictures they think are photo shopped. Or ask them out of how many pictures in the magaine, how many girls are photo shopped.
Closing. Re-state essential question and answers. Collect magazines and say thank
